I’m honored to have two poems posted at the premiere cowboy poetry website, cowboypoetry.com. Here’s the link to my page:

Both poems (Growing Girls and Born To This Land) were inspired by the “Art Spur”, an every-so-often challenge at cowboypoetry.com. A cowboy-themed painting, drawing or photograph is posted at the website to “spur” poems in response to the painting. I’ve had a lot of fun doing this and there is plenty of guidance at the website as to what they are looking for and how to submit your work. The “Art Spur” is a great way to tune up the lyricism in your writing, as well as a terrific brain tease for finding strong, viable rhymes. I encourage all interested poets to check it out at http://www.cowboypoetry.com/artspur/htm

Sue "Cimarron Sue" Matley is more than a very talented musician, vocalist, and songwriter.  She also writes short fiction and the occasional play.  Since 2007, six of her short stories have appeared in print (THEMA Literary Journal, Autumn 2007 and Summer 2008 issues) and online (see links, below). .

Brand New, just published!  Australian publisher Blade Red Press has issued a brand new anthology "Dark Pages" featuring  another S. D. Matley horror story, TO DIE FOR. The anthology is available from Amazon

At last, an S. D. Matley non-horror story! Based on family legend, HIS OWN MEDICINE is set in north central Washington State during the Prohibition Era. Many thanks to GlassFire Magazine for publishing this one:

My story INHERITANCE (by S. D. Matley), a supernatural tale of the west set in rural Walla Walla County in the 1860s and 1870s, is available online in the May 16th issue of The Absent Willow Review (a free publication).  As May's is now a back issue, this link will take you to the story directly.

KNACKERS, inspired by a ghost story and the mining stories of my own Irish ancestors, takes place at the notorious Mamie R. Mine in Cripple Creek, CO, 1894. I hope you enjoy this “slipstream” tale that combines history, science fiction and horror.

THE AUDITOR, inspired by the horrific results of corruption in modern China, appeared in the November 16th 2009 issue.
